No Big Surprises Tonight…

Michael Sarver, Alexis Grace and Danny Gokey. (Michael Becker / FOX)

So the first finalists officially named are Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver, and Danny Gokey …  What do you think?  Did they get it right?

I personally felt that Anoop Desai was a little robbed.  No, he didn’t give the greatest performance we had seen from him, but we know what he is capable of greatness.  But to be honest, I suspect we will see him return as a wild card just like Clay Aiken did Season 2.  And I expect he will make it to the Top 10 as well.

Michael Sarver will have a big Texas fan base pulling for him, but I think he would gain a much broader fan base if he would start singing country music.  Come on, Michael!  Your life is a country song!  It is who you are!!!

Anyway, I felt bad for Tatiana, but it was bound to happen some time or the other.  Next week is a whole new line up.  Is there anyone we should be watching out for?  We’ll see.  I’m still waiting for a girl to knock one out of the park.

Until then, be safe.

Phil, I was pleasantly surprised that Michael made it through. I like him, but wasn’t sure he would make it. I thought Ricky Braddy would go through. I do hope to see him and Anoop as wildcards. I thought Alexis did pretty well, although I don’t like her makeover as much. I actually also felt that Jackie Tohn deserves another chance.

I agree with you that Anoop was robbed. Ricky did a good job too, but he got so little screentime that he wasn’t likely to make it. Michael seems like a nice guy, but I don’t think he deserved to make the Top 12 based on his performance. Your suggestion that he try country music is a good one, though. I’d like to see Tatiana get another chance.

I thought Danny Gokey and Alexis Grace did stand out above the rest and my 3rd pick was also Ricky Braddy although my sentmental favorite was Michael Sarver, he just has great “likeablity”. And, unlike Sanjaya Malakar last year, I thought Anoop Desai has real talent, he just didn’t have a good night Tuesday.
