Matt Giraud Saved by the Judges!

The judges have saved Matt Giraud, and no one was booted off Idol tonight. Matt got the least amount of votes, just as I predicted in my blog Tuesday night, but the dueling piano man from Kalamazoo, Mich., will get a second chance to win over America. I believe he can do it, but as Simon said, it will be hard since next week is Disco week. Because of the judges’ kindness tonight, two Idols will get the disco ball dropped on them and boogie on home in a double elimination.

It was no surprise that Lil Rounds and Anoop joined Matt Giraud in the bottom three. Anoop was in the bottom three for the third week in a row despite one of his best performances but was the first sent back to the safe couch. Lil could have easily been chopped tonight, so next week she will have to do amazingly well to survive. I believe Disco might give her that chance.

Oscar and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson came back to her starting place for an amazing performance of her new single, If This Isn’t Love. Much to my daughter’s delight, Miley Cyrus also made an appearance, singing The Climb.

Do you think that the judges made the correct call? Did he deserve to be saved? Do you think someone else should have actually been the one voted off tonight?  I love to know what you all think.

I am really glad the judges used their save on Matt. I think he is talented and one of the few artists on the show. I do agree he has to have a great performance next week to stay in the competition. I could see Matt singing Barry White’s Can’t Get Enough of Your Love.

Bad call. The women judges always want to save everyone lol. Simon was right…this guy has 0% chance of winning this season. He should have said his goodbyes tonight. No need to prolong the inevitable.

I am glad, too, that Matt was saved. He has done pretty well in the past and deserved another chance. I just hate the idea of 2 going home, and I couldn’t help of think, Phil, of when you and Chris Richardson were eliminated the same night.

It was a surprise call for me because Matt really was bad last night and worse tonight, the song was just a bad choice,(maybe he is having voice problems? I don’t remember him struggling with those higher notes like that before…) Next week though, I could see Matt doing the Bee Gees “Stayin Alive” and Lil doing a Donna Summers number. lol

I was disappointed that the judges used the save on Matt. I thought the purpose of the save was for a “shocking” elimination. Was Matt’s elimination really a shock to anyone? His performance clearly wasn’t one of the best of the night, and I personally find him boring most of the time.

I really don’t like the judges’ save rule. I think it’s every contestant’s responsibility to get America to vote for them. If Matt didn’t do that successfully he deserves to be eliminated. It’s not fair to the other contestants that he might outlast them when they did their job this week and inspired America to pick up the phone.

The judges made the right choice!! I love Matt. He is adorable to look at and is so creative. His performance last night was great and the week before he was AMAZING. I’d love to see him sing a Timberlake song…. YEAH Matt!!!

Now that the judges have used their save, they’ll have no chance to save real frontrunners like Danny or Adam. Wouldn’t they be upset if a frontrunner went home next week because they used their save prematurely?
